Is anyone familiar with an abandoned haunted house located on Perkensville Dr. in Boone? I have seen posts all over the internet and I am curious if anyone had any experience with it. Apparently it burnt down in 2003 so we are out of luck now. It would be interesting to hear your about any experiences there.
This is what I have been able to dig up about this location:
"You will have to look hard for the house as is it hidden by treesand has grown over. It is said that this house is so haunted, you`re guaranteed to experience something every time you go no matter what time of the day or night.the owner died from an undetermined cause and he is the one that haunts this house.Footsteps are what has been reported, as well as an angry banging on the upper floor. It is an angry and forboding house, so use caution!"

I visited this house several times, both during the day and at night. The growth of the exterior plant life and weeds made a spooky first impression. It was definitely creepy but plagued by spirits? not so sure.
There was a chalk outline of a body on the floor in the living room but there is no way to know if someone drew that after the house was abandoned. Several things still remained in the house. Furniture, a television, all the kitchen appliances. It seemed this man didn't have anyone interested in cleaning out this house.
On one of my day time visit, we discovered an upstairs bedroom that was painted a muted pepto bismal pink. In that bedroom there was a strange black soot that ran down from the corners of the rooms. I remember feeling very uneasy when I was left staring at the walls. By the time I realized I was alone, my companions had already reached the car. The trip through the house back to the car by myself was not fun!
The house was ordered condemned by the Town of Boone and burned, most likely to prevent young people like ourselves from disturbing the property further..
Hi! My name is Michael Renegar. I am the author of ROADSIDE REVENANTS AND OTHER NORTH CAROLINA GHOSTS AND LEGENDS. I attended App State 1987-1992.
Several of the stories in my book are from the Boone/Blowing Rock/Valle Crucis area. I lived in haunted East Hall, and investigated and researched that, Coffey, IG Greer, etc... on campus, as well as Howard's Knob, Cone Manor, and St. John's. The stories of a suicidal priest hanging himself out at that church, by the way, are patently false. Rev. Skiles died of Consumption in Linville.
Anyway, found your site, and wanted to talk with you. My email is ghostfind1@gmail.com. We are Camel City Spirit Seekers. Would love to hear from you... Will email you at some point. Ghost Walk tonight at Coffey Hall. I won't be able to attend, but the organizer seems really cool...
I graduated from App in 2004 and had been to the Perkinsville rd house several times at night and once during the day. I was always too uneasy to go in at night but my friends heard lots of weird noises and banging while they were inside. Once they were in a room and said that it sounded like someone had dropped something very large on the floor above their heads. I don't believe in ghosts, but it certainly always freaked us out when we went:-) I always regretted not going back and documenting the house in pictures before it burned. sad.
I came across this page just searching, are you guys doing any current investigations? Myself and a couple of my friends have been trying to get involved with a local group. We have recently been working on the old hospital in banner elk and the switzerland inn in spruce pine and we have been exploring some more historic places in the area. feel free to contact me at davidbryan79@yahoo.com
Someone said that this house has since burnt down and can no longer be found. I don't know if it's true, but I go to App currently and no one has mentioned this house.
I am currently a senior at App and I am graduating this May. This past year, I lived off of Perkinsville Dr. in the East Village apartments right behind the Autozone. I was wondering if anyone knows where this house once stood on Perskinsville Dr. I pass an empty lot everyday that only has a set of stone steps and I am wondering if this is where the house once stood. I also want to know if my apartment complex was built on the property where the house once stood. That would be really interesting.
